Das in der Fotografie Le Voyage dans la Lune ersichtliche Objekt wurde nicht, wie man vielleicht meinen könnte, in Referenz zum gleichnamigen Film von Georges Méliès eigens angefertigt, sondern wurde so auf einer Baustelle vorgefunden. Im ersten Moment deutet es auf ein vermeintliches Missgeschick eines Handwerkers hin. Die Assoziation des Objekts mit der Szene im Film Le Voyage dans la Lune, in der die mit Wissenschaftlern besetzte Raumkapsel im Auge des Mondgesichts landet und welche als Einzelbild auch am Filmplakat zu sehen war, führte letztlich zur Entscheidung das Objekt zu fotografieren. The object to be seen in the photograph Le Voyage dans la Lune was not, as one might think, especially made in reference to the film of the same title by Georges Méliès, but was found on a construction site. At first glance, it indicates a probable mishap on the part of a craftsman. The association of the object with the scene in the film Le Voyage dans la Lune, in which the space capsule occupied by scientists lands in the eye of the moon’s face and which can also be seen as a still image on the film poster, ultimately led to the decision to photograph the object.
